Aloha
Aloha and Welcome. I am new to this and so please forgive any faux pas in blogger world. I was think that this will be a fun way to talk about my life as a transplanted LA girl who has found herself living on the Big Island. Its been fun and mostly its a challenge just to get by the same as any place else. I hope that this turns out to be more than just an online diary,I really want the chance to do some creative writing which I really love to do.
I currently work as a manager of a
small jewelry store in downtown Hilo, on the windward side of the Big Island of Hawaii. This town is really close to what people think about when they think of "old Hawaii" lots of older buildings and palm trees and a very slow pace of life....at least to me coming from California. The store is new and there are not a lot of customers so perhaps I will fill a bit of time in between working on my posts. I have learned a lot about the worlds best know vacation spot. Some of the things are wonderful other things are not so good. Perhaps this will be venue for some discussion about the not so good. We all know the good.
And life is good, Im very glad to be in a place where the air is clean and I am so close to the ocean. No real beaches here, the coast line is all old lava flow, so its very rocky. I llive in a subdivision called Hawaiian Beaches, But the beach is a 100 foot cliff! No diving there for sure.
I am married to a wonderful guy...well he is wonderful for putting up with all of my nonsense and moving me here to Hawaii away from LA and all of his friends. Woody is a great guy who has been my mainstay while here. I sometimes wonder if we should have ever gotten married though we are so different...We have two lovely cats Makoa and KaNani who are my furry delights. (except when the little buggers wake me up fighting at 2 am!)...
I am going to try to post this and see how I do with it. Im sure that anyone who reads my blog will laugh at my mistakes right along with me ... Aloha and Hana Hou
