New Doors Beckon
Photo the front door of our new house. Taken with my treo 650 phone and posted to blogger....
We met with the home inspector and there are issues with the house but nothing that we cant deal with and we are asking the sellers for a financial break rather than trying to fix the place up. Only the safety issues were called, the rest we will deal with as time goes on.
I found myself really feeling good about this home and its location. Surrounded by retirees, there is the peace and quiet that I desire, and the neighbors who saw us prowling the grounds after we had dinner last night came out en masse to meet and greet and we learned the story of how the house came up for sale and how this community sadly watched two of its most beloved members go into a serious decline and the wife pass away. The husband is now living with his kids in the Chicago area. The people that we met last night seem to be very friendly and are looking forward to meeting us. We had a concern about the home next to ours that we weren't sure was vacant or not. Two retired teachers from California are in the process of moving in and will be here by the end of July. Our "welcoming commitee" has met them and they told us we were a perfect fit for them as they had been concerened about the same issues. We have had such horrible neighbors in the last two homes that I have livied in that this will be a treat to have nice people around us.
So for the next few weeks we are tourists in the area. There is a lot to see and do here. We are also going to try to find contractors to put in flooring and paint the house for us this next week. I was so pleased to see that the home is a bit bigger than I thought that it was and the yard is a bit smaller. There is 25 feet of common area behind the house between us and the neighbors that is wooded. If I want to have a bench under the trees out there that is fine but then anyone can use it. Across the street is a round patch of land that the neighbors use as a private park with a picnic table and benches in it. Very nice touch and something we will enjoy using. Woody in particular likes to go sit out with a book in the sun.
If my "feelers" are correct... and I dont 100 percent trust them, no woman should especially at this time in my life, I am comming to a place that I will be at home. I am surprised at this I would never have guessed it. But there it is. I feel such a peace when I sit in this house, lived in by Godly people, and well loved, It is my hope that I can finally rest from my journey a little while, and be at peace.
