The Weatherman
10th fairway at The Greens of Tanyard Creek Golf Course Bella Vista Arkansas
The Car Salesmen said...
"You know it is hotter here
than in Los Angeles.."
I laughed within and thought
"How can they know?"
I can speak of thirty eight summers
enduring the Santa Anna
Devil Wind, burning desert heat
brittle dried brush, and canyons
Mountains and coastal ranges
turned into infernos
Dream homes, beach shack and mansion
become the ashes of nightmare.
Septembers days of raging wind
become October's blazing fall,
The ground so dry and heated, cracked
it makes the earth shake
Oh, you Southern men
your leafy trees
Your oceans of green leaves
speak of a softer clime
Of rain, misted mornings then
afternoons of sun soaked humidity
Soft breezes, Gulf stirred
or sent by northern winds
Ozark Summer's Thunderheads
white mountains of clouds
Bearing lighting and voluminous rain
possibly tornados
If your luck has run out...
