The Journey Home
Heralding the Storm, gilded evening clouds drifting north ahead of hurricane Katrina,I took this photo last night at the watermelon feast as the sun was fading in the west and the evening was comming on. I entered prayers and prayed much of the night for those in the path of hurricane Katrina.
Things are very bad of course, but I am so very glad that there was a "lessening" of what could have been worse. But I am glad that the initial loss of life was not as great as predicted, but obviously the next days and months there will be more casualties in both life and property.
The change in the weather has cooled things off and made it pleasent for us to start the process of unloading our cartons. We did a full cleaning in our kitchen, and cupboards, the plaster dust permiates everything!. I lined all of the drawers and cabinets, so we can set up housekeeping, kitchen, laundry and our bedroom...
We were able to get a electrician out to finish off the lighting and the ignighter for our water heater. Now once the water heater passes its test by the gas man we are all set and can move in...
We dont really have a choice, as we must be out of this vacation rental by Sept 1. The timing is perfect, and we are bounding forward. Much of our "excess" stuff we moved today and I think I could move out in one hour, if that was all the time I had , kitties included.
I was in my kitchen today, and Woody brought in a open carton marked "Extreeeemly (I kid you not) fragile" I had opened it when we were checking undocumented cartons off the manifest. I hadnt pulled anything out but Woody had this afternoon. He was all excited and said "Hey I found your lady"... Now this isnt "Our Lady" a figurine of Mary, Mother of Jesus, but rather a figurine of the woman of John Chapter 4, the Samaritain woman with her water jar balanced on her sholder. She is a allogorical image of myself. God spoke to her through Jesus about her life, just as I had a audible voice experience with God that resolved so many of my questions of life.
I have a number of personal objects that once unpacked and set out say to me... "Hokulea, you have arrived... welcome home." I will try to take a few photos of them in the next few days for you.
I have arrived, this potion of my journey is nearly done...
(a side note... my internet acessability is not decided as of yet. My posting my be suspended for a few days, stay tuned.)
