Thanksgiving At Journey's End- A Poem
KaloPlant Kalopa State park. Kalo, or Taro. Brought to Hawaii by the Tahitian colonists, the pounded starchy root becomes the staple "Poi"... Staple it may be, in times of famine it was the bread in the desert, the manna, of Polynesia. It sustained the Voyagers accross the trackless Pacific. And sustains the poor of Hawaii today.
Lord, my God you sent us
out into a wilderness
Accross the wide sea
to a land we did not know
We have heeded Your voice
even when not undestanding
Going forward through every door
You opened wide for us
You sent us bread from heaven
and a means we did not earn
Your provided every desire
and turned Your ear from our complaints
You provided a home in the forest
a place of refuge surrounded by friends
In Your time and in Your way
Our dwelling has been established
We praise You for Your goodness
Your mercy and provision.
You have sustained us this day
Now and forever more.
