The Better Part of Valor
Antique Pipe Organ in the lobby of the Cresent Hotel Eureka Springs
Major Doctor took time out this morning to come into the office and dress my wound. Its a lot better but perhaps more painful nor that the shock has worn off
Major: Woody, you can do this, take the tweezers and pull the packing out like this
(Hoku lets out yelp and clings to Woody's arm)
Major: Then you take freshpacking like this, and wrap it around a qtip and push into wound like so...
(Hoku tries not to thrash about, and recites the "Jesus" prayer out loud)
Major: Hoku, If you dont do this you will land into the hospital
(Hoku is blowing like she is in labor)
Woody: Hey Doc, I am not much of a nurse...
Major: Nah, Woody, You can do it, she can take it shes tough and she'll forgive you, Id have her do it herself, but she cant see what shes doing.
(Hoku is rigid on the gurneyshe then takes a deep breath and tries to relax,)
Woody: I have zip compassion
Major: Perfect, and this will save yah some
(Hoku relaxes and sits up)... Hey Doc, two vicodin didnt cut it, need an IV with Woody here...
Major: You have done great so far and you can do this...
No I cant. I was unable to procure the packing as all of the medical supply stores were closed and this isnt something you can buy at Wal Greens. I was at church later for a church bazzar and the people there were shocked that we are having to do this
Its because we dont have insurance.
I am sure that the good doctor means well but I am going to go the the ER rather than have Woody go through what I saw in his eyes as I was"unpacked and repacked" I have weeks of this ahead of me and I can see only trouble if Woody is responsible for this. His ability at avoidance is legendary, and I really need a detached third party doing this... Sometimes retreat is the better part of valor.
Pray that I can find a 24 hour clinic, or a home health nurse that can do this chore for me
