Fireside Chat
Its late and Woody and I are sitting by the fire. We went to a party tonight at our next door neighbor's house. We had a good time and its good to have good people near you...
Its a blessing really. I have never lived where the neighbors were more than a nod or a wave of greeting. Mostly its been sullen silence, or nasty loud music at odd hours of the day. I cant believe that we have been plopped here in the midst of the like minded and can relax and enjoy it.
We talked about our joining the church and Woody being home. He is just getting a bit too comfortable with this being at home and its really starting to bug me. He is making out like hes a hero or something, because he made dinner tonight...like I havent done it for nearly all of my life (I started making meals for the family at age 10) He thinks he should get a medal for this.
We fought about it last night as he kept bringing up the situation... asking the retired guys when they go to breakfast and could he go... No mention of going out and looking for a job... I pointedly told him that if he was bored with the domestic goddess bit then get his little hind end out there and look for a job, it aint going to get handed to him.
Work is going ok. I am on my own now and have my own work and things to do. I am going to start to go in one hour earlier and get off earlier. This will shorten my commute by making it at an odd hour. But there is trouble in paradise too. A turf war is developing and I am the turf. Two other accounts want me in for a internal interview with the mind of moving me to a new and perhaps better more stable project. One of the men interviewing me was instrumental in my getting hired here. I am just a worker bee and have nothing that I care to say. Where ever I am supposed to be there I will be and that is it. Office politics drives me crazy, and it is attracted to me like iron filings to a magnet, or better still cat hair to black pants.
Some holiday presents arrived via the cyber Santa. I should have had wrapping paper delivered as well... but with the new hours perhaps I can get into a store during a non peak hour.
