Savior of the Nations- A Christmas Hymn
Advent Pontsettas
One of the things I love about the holiday season is the music...But as you know we hear the same songs over and over to the point of irritation.
The first year I blogged, I wrote about carols that meant a lot to me... Then last year it seemed that the songs of the season told our story, a Advent of a new beginning for Woody and myself. For in the Liturgical sense, Advent is a season of renewal and rebirth... While the hymns of Christmas sing of Christ's birth they also tell of our own possibility of renewal and rebirth.
I have for the past year been immersing myself in the liturgy of the church and have found a number of beautiful Chirstmas hymns that I had not heard before. I present them along with some lesser known carols and songs. I have also had a request to run a couple of the posts from last year on some well known carols.
I hope that the holiday season has been good for you so far. In the hussle and bussle of this time of year please give yourself a moments peace to contemplate the goodness of the Lord...
Savior of the nations, come;
Virgin's Son, here make Your home!
Marvel now, O heaven and earth,
That The Lord chose such a birth.
Not by human flesh and blood,
By the Spirit of Our God
Was The Word of God made flesh
Woman's Offspring, pure and fresh.
You, The Father's only Son
Have or'e sin the victory won
Boundless shall Your kingdom be;
When shall we its glories see?Saint Ambrose of Milan 360 AD
