Abundant Living

Lord, You made
All things good
and in their time.
the cycle of living
the season of change
all are a part
of your wonderous plan
which we fail to understand

Lord, there is a danger,
Solomon called it
"a fullness of food"
the crisis of expected comfort
a sleepiness of satiation
that lulls me into misplaced expectation
Please do not allow boredom to slay
my appetite for adventure

Suddenly it comes
like a summer storm
a trial that shatters
and stumbles you
and you think that this
is all the future holds
I forget the fullness of life
in the moment of adversity


Lord I am guilty
of this shortsightedness
this loss of Passion
and failure of Vision
Please do not allow
the trials of the moment
to quench my thirst
for abundant living.
