Tech Toys for Dummies
Country Road Carroll County Arkansas. The simple life in the country let me shrug off the electronic chains that bind me!
"Hoku, you have to go to bed"
"Woody, I cant I am trying to get these podcasts to load, and they wont. Did you give me this thing to just drive me crazy?"
"No, where are the instructions?"
"There are no instructions, this is supposed to be so simple that it doesnt need instructions... Ha!"
"Thats pretty dumb,Woody replies "what if there is a problem?"
"We have a problem," I shoot back... "The stupid Itunes and our computer hate each other and I have to system restore every hour on the computer to unfreeze the thing"
"Dang," Woody exclaims, "This is worse than the phone problems"
Worse than my phone... I still have
my Palm Treo 650 I only use the phone part and that not very well. This phone was purchased in Hilo and therefore not configured for the Mainland networks, then once we settled here in NW Arkansas, and I was able to give up my Hawaii number, the phone was reconfigured...Ha! The Palm system hates my computer or rather my computer hates everything attached to it and looks upon USB thingyies at parasites... Oh nuts I dont care anymore that I spent a bundle on this thing, I need a new phone...
So what does Woody give me for Christmas??? a baby pink razor phone....NOOOOOOOO.... I get this....
more toys... Now mind you I was thrilled. But this lovely thing does not come with instructions for care and feeding, or info where you can download data... in fact the tech head in my cube at work was joking that if you needed an instruction book like as not you were mentally deficient. So how hard is it????
Its pretty darn hard... My computer is no doubt to blame for both the Palm issues and now Itunes. All of my music that I downloaded in the computer had to be reformatted, so it was no easy task to put music into the thing... but figure out how to download podcasts? Yikes. So I have struggled with this for a week. I finally got some downloaded then when I went to recharge the Ipod, bang, the podcasts vanished...victims of automated updating...
What is a girl to do? I cried and went to bed. But I lived to fight another day and think I have some of this figured out.... and yes I found, on the Apple site a place to download the 75 page manual for the thing...
So now they tell me, just after I bought "Ipod for Dummies"
I am going to put the Palm Treo 650 on Ebay once I get a new phone. I also have another PDA I am going to try to sell. I would just rather keep a notebook than have a PDA I just dont do very well with eletronic gadgets... I need to keep it simple, everytime I take on a electronic timesaving device, I spend more time just managing the time saving device. Uggh!
Where is
Kim Kommando when I need her????
